Artist-Run Initiatives

What is an Artist-Run Initiative?

As implied in the name, an ARI is a program that is primarily developed and run by a committee of artists. As these programs are creatively versatile they may take a variety of forms, although for the most part they might be composed of a studio and gallery space combination. Artist-Run Initiatives are often known to have an ingrained focus on the relationship of art and the communities they are a part of, as well as supporting and developing emerging and local artists.

In South Australia there are eleven established Artist Run Initiatives, including one regional ARI. Below is a full list of these ARIs, all of which are featured on Town Crier.
